Steven A. King '91
Executive DirectorSteve King '91 was selected as the Executive Director of the Brown University Sports Foundation on November 14th, 2005.
Steve is no stranger to Brown and Brown athletics. He was a forward on the Brown Hockey team during his undergraduate days and helped to lead a reversal of fortunes on the ice for the Bears. His first two years were during a historical low point for the program, but by the time Steve was an Assistant Captain as a senior he guided the 1990-91 Brown squad to its first Ivy Championship since the 1975-76 season. During that championship campaign, King led the team in goals (19) and points (34).
After leaving College Hill, Steve enjoyed a highly successful 10-year career in professional hockey. He holds a New York Rangers record for scoring a goal in his first four NHL games. After three years in the Rangers organization, he was the first forward selected in the 1993 expansion draft and was a member of the inaugural Mighty Ducks of Anaheim team. Much like at Brown, Steve ended his pro career with a championship, winning the AHL Calder Cup title as a member of the Providence Bruins. After hanging up his skates, Steve moved behind the bench as an assistant to Head Hockey Coach Roger Grillo for two years at Brown. Prior to joining the Sports Foundation, Steve spent three years as a Financial Advisor for Morgan Stanley in Providence, providing comprehensive wealth management for individuals, families, and non-profit foundations.
Steve is a native Rhode Islander and currently lives in East Greenwich, R.I. with his wife Christine and their three young boys.
